Over time, repeated contracture of facial muscles can lead to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The areas most commonly affected include the forehead, glabella (i.e. the area between the eyebrows) and crow’s feet, along with the outer cornea of the eyelids. Botox, Xeomin and Dysport belong to the class of medications known as “neuromodulators.” Neuromodulators function by relaxing muscles in the face, which can decrease the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

The Botox, Xeomin and Dysport Injection Procedure
Botox, Xeomin and Dysport injections are performed in our clinic. We ask that you remove your make up prior to injection. The injection sites will be cleaned with alcohol prior to the procedure. The injections usually take less than 15 minutes, and patients are usually able to go back to work immediately afterward.
Botox, Xeomin and Dysport require about two weeks to reach their maximum effect, which lasts for approximately three months. Botox, Xeomin and Dysport injections can be performed during the same visit as other procedures, like an injection of hyaluronic acid filler or brow lift surgery.
Botox injection is the most commonly performed non-surgical, cosmetic procedure in the United States. Although Botox is often used for cosmetic purposes, it is also used to treat medical conditions, including migraine headaches, blepharospasm (spasm of the eyelid muscles) and excessive sweating.
Xeomin and Dysport work via a mechanism similar to Botox. In our experience, Xeomin and Dysport have a similar level of effectiveness when it comes to improving facial lines and wrinkles.
Results and Recovery After Botox, Xeomin and Dysport
Following the injection of Botox, Xeomin and Dysport, most patients are able to immediately return to work. You will have small elevations where the medications were injected, which usually dissipate over the next half hour.
Sometimes, bruises can form at the sites of injection, but this is rare. Most patients notice Botox, Xeomin and Dysport working after five to seven days, with the medications reaching their full effect two weeks after injection. This effect usually lasts three months.
